Australian Slide Scanning Service

We are Australia's best (and cheapest!) slide scanning service. Your slides are probably getting quite old now. They may be growing mould, they may be fading, they may be turning to dust. None of this can happen to a digital image. If you are interested in preserving your family history we would strongly recommend that you get your slides scanned into digital format ... ASAP.

Of course another reason why you might consider getting your slides scanned would be if you no longer have access to a working projector

DIY Slide Scanning

Of course you don't have to use our Slide Scanning Service, you might choose - particularly if you have a large number of slides - to scan the slides yourself.
Do not use a flat bed scanner - even if it has some fancy attachment, or claims to be good for slides.
You will not get a good quality image. Beg borrow or buy a good quality purpose built slide scanner - we recommend the Nikon Super Coolscan range - although they are far from perfect, and the software is pretty lame, you will get good quality images. It's what we use. It's what anyone who is serious about scanning slides uses. Of course they are expensive, but you might pick one up on eBay, or you might get a fair return on your investment if you buy a new one and then trade it on eBay when you have finished your scanning.

If you want to compare the quality of our service with your own machine you can use our Free Trial to compare results.

Our Slide Scanning Service

Send us your slides and we will scan them using our high quality Nikon Scanner. We will send you a disk which you can play in your DVD player ... AND ... in the CD drive of your computer. That's right; you do not need a dvd drive to access the images. In fact you can use this disk in any of the print consoles that a poping up in all the big retailers.

Improved Digital Images

Of course we can't refocus your slides, if they were out of focus when you took them, they are going to stay that way forever. What we can do is revive faded colours. We can remove most dust and scratch marks, and we can crop away the end of film markers. Unfortunately the discolouration caused by mould growth is not something we can do very much about.

Preparing your slides for scanning

What NOT to do before you send us your slides to scan. Don't wipe the slides with a cloth, don't touch the slides with your fingers (or anything else for that matter), don't try to clean off the mould - you'll end up doing more damage than good. If you happen to have something that blows dry air (not heated!) - and your slides are particularly dusty - it probably would not do any harm to give them a quick blow-off. Do not blow on the slides yourself - the damp air will just encourage mould.
